On the 12th of November, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) staged a protest across Telangana.
The protests at Indira Park and all the Assembly constituencies of Telangana were against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanding procurement of paddy crops from farmers. The protest came a day after the BJP staged a protest against the TRS regarding the same.
Since the past one week, paddy procurement from farmers has been a major issue in the Telugu State. Both the ruling party (TRS) and the opposition (the BJP) are blaming each other for the paddy crop issue in the State. While the BJP is asking the TRS to purchase the crops, the TRS is asking the Central Government (BJP) to do the same as promised. It is to be noted, the TRS is asking the Centre to purchase 100 % of the crops, whereas the BJP assured for only 60 % of crops, that too after the K. Chandrashekar Rao Government buys the 40 % of the crops.
In regard to this, the TRS intensified their agitation and staged a protest in all the assembly constituencies. The Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of TRS, district collectors and other officials along with the state farmers took part in the protest.
The protest started at 10:00 A.M., and continued till 1:00 P.M., creating a ruckus in various regions of Telangana.
If the Central Government fails to meet the demand of the TRS, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, would call for a protest in Delhi and would sit on a dharna.
