Mallu Ravi, the Vice President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC,) urged the Telangana Government to hold talks with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees.

Mr. Ravi, on the 15th of November, addressed a press conference and appreciated the efforts of the TSRTC employees to resolve the matter.  The TSRTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) temporarily dropped one of their major demands—merging the TSRTC with the State Government.

The TSRTC leaders also urged the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government to immediately hold talks about the TSRTC employees’ remaining demands and resolve the matter.

During a press meet organised at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr. Mallu Ravi said after the TSRTC employees dropped their merger demand for the TSRTC employees who lost their lives, it is the Government’s turn to reciprocate and respond positively.

Mr. Ravi further added it was unfortunate how the State Government ignored the TSRTC leaders and did not respond positively even after 41 days of the strike.

The TRS Government did not agree to the demands of the TSRTC employees and even suspended many of them.  Approximately 48,000 TSRTC employees were on an indefinite strike since the 5th of October.

However, on the 15th of November, the TSRTC employees agreed to resolve the matter by dropping the merger demand.

Mallu Ravi concluded his press conference with a warning for the State Government and said if the TRS does not resolve the matter now, after the request of the TSRTC leaders, it would pay a heavy price.

The TSRTC strike entered its 42nd day on the 16th of November.  The Government is expected to submit a report in the Telangana High Court (HC) regarding its stand on the ongoing strike and also briefed the HC about the steps taken by the State Government.

The next hearing regarding the TSRTC strike is scheduled on the 18th of November.

Stay tuned for further updates.
