A devotee husband has spent his 56 years, caring for his bed-ridden wife, who lost all her sensation in her body at the age of 20.
Du Yuanfa, 84, of Sunjiayu in east China’s Shandong Province quit his job as a coal miner in 1959, shortly after Zhou Yu’ai contracted an unknown illness and was paralysed since then.
Its was just five months of their happily married, after which Yuanfa was bed ridden till date. Yuanfa found out about the tragedy of his wife when he received a letter which read that she was “sick and bed-bound”, while he was working in a nearby city in Tai’an.
After returning home he discovered that his young wife was no longer able to look after herself, as her whole body was stiff and she could turn or even hold objects in her hands.
Even after six decades, Yuanfa is so committed in finding her a cure that he journeys into remote Chinese mountains every time he hears of a herbal recipe and then tastes it first before giving it to her, to make sure it’s not poisonous.
