In a weird but wonderful turn of events, a Bangalore based girl showed us all that we must never let others control our lives. Karishma Walia, who works in Gurgaon at Deloitte, is a Bangalore lass who didn’t take any nonsense when it came to her pet dog Lucy.
Karishma got a marriage proposal from a Delhi based guy who clearly stated that he cannot have the canine come between them once married. And so, very arrogantly, he asked Karishma to abandon Lucy or say goodbye to the dream of marrying him. Much praises to the Lord above who, in the form of Lucy, came to rescue Karishma from such a narrow minded groom. And Karishma in turn being a sensible girl warded him off without a backward glance.
“I don’t want a dog to come in between my love life and not share the same bed… that’s for sure,” he said, according to a WhatsApp conversation between the pair which was posted on Twitter. “And my mom doesn’t like dogs in general.” Well, if such are the “eligible bachelors” in town, it is great to see that the modern day women are becoming more of a go-getters in their career department.
The rest of the world also took to Twitter to show there staunch support for this girl.

The guy, apparently, didn’t have basic decency as he kept asking her to choose family and household works over career but Karishma went ahead to meet him after the arranged marriage proposal as her family thought he was the “ideal husband material.” We hope that parents across the country understand at least now that marriage is not the ultimate milestone for a girl and not every well off guy is marriage material.
Lucy, itself is an adorable dog who has lived with Karishma for many long years and, unlike her ex-would-be husband, shows her more love and loyalty. It is heartening to see that there are such humane and dog loving people still left in the world. Often the love of these pups goes unnoticed by their owners, but theirs is the love which is one of the purest and most unconditional.
