Gujarat: Arpit was born with his heart outside his body in the year 1997 and at that time none of them expected him to survive.
The 18-year-old boy from Gujarat is living a healthy life and has became an unsolved puzzle for the medical science. According to director and chief cardiac surgeon of DDMM Heart Institute, Dr Sanjeeth Peter said, ‘this is only such case in India’.
Vikrambhai, father of Arpit said, even they dint expect him to live at that time as this is an incredibly rare condition and usually babies did within few says in these kind of cases.
Dr. Peter said that such situation arises because of pentalogy of cantrell syndrome. Infants with pentalogy of Cantrell can have a wide variety of congenital heart defects and its severity can vary from one infant to another.
