Hyderabad: In a shocking incident a 35-year-old, high on alcohol jumped into a lion enclosure at Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad on Sunday after noon to shake hand with a lion but was rescued unwounded by the security.
L&T Metro Rail labourer, Mukesh crossed the barricade of the African lion enclosure despite of security staff’s warring at the Zoo. Lion caretaker Shivani Dogra said, “the lioness (Radhika) was inside the enclosure but the person was rescued unhurt by its keeper R Papaiah.“After preliminary enquiry it was found that Mukesh was in an inebriated state and had jumped inside the enclosure to go near the lion. He has been handed over to Bahadurpura Police,” Dogra said.
Recently, two lions were killed by Santiago’s Metropolitan Zoo authorities after the big cats severely injured a youth who stripped naked and entered the cage. Soon the mauled man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is said to be stable now.
