After Hima Das, it is Ekta Bhyan making India proud in the field of sports. The 33 year old from Haryana is a Para Athlete who secured 2 medals at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2018 held in Tunisia. She earned a gold medal in the F51 club throw and a bronze in the discus throw and carved her name in history.

A road accident in 2003 left her with a spinal injury and a paralysed lower body. After undergoing two surgeries and regular physiotherapy, she partially recovered. She then completed her bachelor’s’ degree and with immense willpower and hard work, she cleared the Haryana Civil Services examination in her second attempt.

In 2014, she met the Arjuna Award winning Paralympian, Amit Saroha, who motivated her to the sport. Her hard work paid off when she won medals at the National Para Athletics Championship in Panchkula, Haryana in March 2016.

She then went on to participate in the International Paralympic Committee (I. P. C.) sanctioned Para Athletics Grand Prix 2014 in Berlin. This was her first appearance at the international level Para Athletics where She won her first silver medal in club throw.

In 2017, she represented India in the I. P. C. Para Athletics World championship in London.

After her recent victory, she will take part in 2018 Asian Para Games scheduled to be held in Indonesia in October.
