PM Modi Meets Union Health Ministry Officials To Discuss COVID-19

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Harsh Vardhan, the Health Minister of India, on the 7th of March.   

The duo conducted a meeting to discuss the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis in India.  The meeting started at 11:30 A.M., at the Parliament office.

During the meeting, Harsh Vardhan and senior officials of the Union Health Ministry briefed Mr. Modi about the measures taken to control the deadly virus from spreading.

The National Capital Delhi, reported 7 Coronavirus cases so far.  The deadly virus which was first reported in China has now spread to 25 more countries including India.

Prime Minister Modi reviewed the awareness campaign on COVID-19  as India reported 28 positive cases as of now. Mr. Modi who said the Novel Coronavirus is a challenge which India needs to fight and win.  He said, “Every era brings new challenges to test and strengthen our ‘Collaborate to Create’ spirit.  Just as today, Coronavirus has come up as a big challenge in front of the world. Financial institutions have considered it as a big challenge for the economy.  Today, we all have to tackle this situation together.”

Later in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to take part in the Jan Aushadhi Diwas celebrations through a video conference.  During the video conference, Mr. Modi would interact with seven Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana Kendras, store owners and beneficiaries of the selected stores.

The Coronavirus  killed more than 3,000 people so far and infected nearly 1,00,000 people in the world.
