The Election Commission of India (ECI) on the 6th of March, issued notification for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in the State.
The A.P., Assembly Secretary and Returning Officer (RO) of the State issued the elections notification. The nominations would be filed from the 6th of March to the 13th of March, whereas, the scrutiny of the filed nominations would be held on the 16th of March.
Candidates who wish to withdraw their nominations could do it on the 18th of March.
The Rajya Sabha elections in A.P., would be held on the 26th of March and the results will be announced on the same day.
As per the Rajya Sabha elections guidelines, 8 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) could be nominated from political parties, whereas 10 MLAs could be nominated independently.
As of now, 4 Rajya Sabha representatives of A.P., are T. Subbarami Reddy, K. Keshavrao and Thota Sitharama Laxmi and Mohammed Ali Khan. Their term ends on the 9th of April and the new candidates would be given a chance to file their nominations and contest for 4 Rajya Sabha seats from A.P.
The Rajya Sabha elections would take place from 4:00 A.M., to 4:00 P.M., on the 26th of March.
