Hyderabad Institute Starts Research Of COVID-19 Vaccine With Australian University

A Hyderabad based company is soon going to start working with an Australian university for a vaccine for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19, illness.

Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) is going to start its research for the cure of the COVID-19 with Griffith University.

Scientists of the IIL and Griffith University would work and develop a ‘Live Attenuated SARSCoV-2 also known as Coronavirus vaccine.

The IIL on the 11th of April, released a statement which read, “The technology looks promising for developing a vaccine for prophylactic, active, single dose immunisation against the coronavirus in humans, with an enhanced safety profile.” 

According to sources, after the research work, the vaccine strain would be transferred to IIL for the clinical trials.  Post research the IIL would work with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation for phased clinical trials.

Till date, there is no vaccine for the pandemic illness, the Novel Coronavirus.  According to experts and the World Health Organisation (WHO,) it would take 18 months for the proven vaccine of the virus.

The Coronavirus infected 1,639,763 people and claimed 102,846 lives till date globally.  Meanwhile in India, the number increased to 7,684 cases with 250 deaths.
