On the night of the 10th of May, Telangana Police in Bhainsa town imposed a 24 hour curfew.
The curfew was imposed due to a communal clash in the Bhainsa town of Nirmal district, Telangana.
According to sources, a person allegedly in an inebriated condition entered a place of worship in Shivajinagar area. He entered the place and raised objections to gathering in a religious place in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus. This man even attacked four to five people who were offering prayers. One of them sustained bleeding injuries and is undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital. The incident resulted in a communal clash where two groups of people pelted stones at each other. This left several injured, three houses and two vehicles damaged.
Soon after the incident, the Telangana police rushed to the scene and used force to control the situation. The police also imposed a 24 hour curfew with an intensified patrolling across the town detaining 15 people in connection with the clash.
C.Shashidhar Raju, the Superintendent of Police (S P) of Nirmal district, said, “We have deployed more forces and (are) closely monitoring the situation.”
P. Pramod Kumar, Karimnagar range in-charge Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG,) also visited the town on Monday and reviewed the situation.
Meanwhile, Nirmal district reported a total of 20 cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19, out of which 8 recovered/ discharged and 12 are active cases.
