On the 19th of May, the Bihar Health Department, released a date of the Novel Coronavirus affecting migrants who reached Bihar from different places in India.
Manoj Kumar, the Principal Secretary of the Health Department of Bihar, released the data for 11,800 migrant workers, who were tested for the Novel Coronavirus. Out of the total, 51 % migrants, near to 6,000 were reported positive of the Novel Coronavirus.
According to the released data only 2 % of migrants travelled from Telangana tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. Whereas, 26 %, 12 % and 11% migrants from Delhi, West Bengal and Maharashtra tested positive respectively.
This information was revealed by the Bihar Government after testing all the migrants transported through special Shramik Express. The special train was approved by the Central Government to ferry all the stranded migrant workers to their native places and started from the 1st of May.
Over the released data, the Telangana Health department said, “It (data) also confirms that contact tracing and testing of coronavirus suspects in the State is accurate. All the allegations against Telangana about low testing rates have proved baseless with the data from Bihar.”
The State authority said, with the released data from Bihar, it is proven, the allegations of low testing in Telangana is inappropriate and Telangana is following accurate containment measures.
Recently, there were allegations on the Telangana Government for not conducting enough tests for the Novel Coronavirus in the State, which may lead to a sudden jump in cases later.
However, the State Government dismissed the allegations and said the State Government is taking all the necessary steps to control the spread of COVID-19 infections in Telangana.
Meanwhile, Telangana has a total of 1,634 cases of the Novel Coronavirus with 38 fatalities till date.
