On the 29th of May, two floors of the Indian Parliament’s Annexe building were closed after a Parliament official tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 infection.
With two Rajya Sabha Secretariat officials testing positive for COVID-19, the Parliament Annexe reported 4th such case. The other three were infected with the Novel Coronavirus after the Parliament session started on the 3rd of May and all officials were back on duty.
On the 28th of May, a director level parliament officer, along with his family members tested positive for COVID-19.
Previously parliament complexes such as Krishi Bhawan, Shastri Bhawan and NITI Aayog were sealed after the positive cases of COVID- 19 were detected.
Following the COVID-19 spread in the Parliament complex, the Central Government increased security measures, thermal screenings, vehicles sanitization and other arrangements.
Face masks and social distancing were strict norms to be followed after the offices resumed for work.
The Parliament started functioning from the 3rd of May, after the lockdown 2.0., ended.
Currently India is under lockdown 4.0., which started from the 18th of May and is proposed to end on the 31st of May.
