On the 31st of March, opposition members of political parties staged a protest during the Lok Sabha session in Delhi.
Members of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the Trinamool Congress (TMC,) the Samajwadi Party (SP,) the Indian National Congress (INC,) the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and others protested against the Central Government over fuel price hike in India.
It is to be noted, petrol and diesel prices were increased for the 9th time in the past 10 days, on the 31st of March, Thursday. The new prices with a hike by 80 paise a liter is increased by Rs 6.40 per liter, overall.
To demand serious discussion over the same, the opposition leaders started the protest raised slogans and placards against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government. However, the Lok Sabha Speaker Mr. Om Birla said he had given them opportunities in the past to discuss the same and asked them to stop the protest. The opposition members ignored the Speaker’s plea and continued their protest.
Continuing for 30 minutes inside the house, the leaders of parties including the INC and the TMC staged a walk out in protest.
