Amid the heavy rains, the Telangana Government and the concerned authority lifted 44 gates at the Jurala project. The water flow at the Jurala project continues for days, due to which about 2,35,000 cusecs of flood water came into the reservoir.
To control the flood like situation in the Telugu State of Telangana, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) led Government lifted 44 gates and are releasing 2,40,835 cusecs of water. The total water capacity of the Jurala reservior is 9.657 TMC and currently, there is water storage of 8.010 TMC. Furthermore, the water level of the Jurala project has touched 317.690 meters out of 318.516 meters.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department and the Hyderabad Weather Department, predicted heavy to moderate rainfall, as a low pressure is likely to form in the North Bay of Bengal. The low pressure is likely to be formed on the 19th of August, which would lead to moderate to heavy rainfall in the isolated, low lying regions of Telangana, Chhattisgarh and other states of India.
The neighbouring Telugu State of Andhra Pradesh is also likely to receive rainfall for the next 24 to 48 hours.
