Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, visited Dantewada, and paid homage to the 11 jawans of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) who died in the Naxal Attack.
On the 26th of April, Wednesday, an IED containing explosive material planted by Naxals, killed 11 jawans in Dantewada region.
On the 27th of April, Thursday, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel paid his homage, following which wreaths were laid at the bodies of 10 police personnel and a civilian driver who died in a blast. Women, children and other family members of the dead cops were seen crying while women security personnel were trying to console them.
After paying homage to the personnel who died in the Naxal attack, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said the sacrifices of the jawans would not go in vain and the fight against Maoists would be intensified. The Chief Minister lent his shoulder to the coffin of one of the jawans on the way to a vehicle in which the bodies were being shifted to native places of the dead cops. The wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Police Lines in Karli area in Dantewada district on Thursday.
Mr Baghel, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, MPs Dipak Baij and Phulodevi Netam and state Director General of Police Ashok Juneja paid homage to the dead cops.
Mr Baghel also met the relatives of the jawans and the driver and assured them of extending assistance. Later, the State CM held a high level meeting with the security officials and discussed the security issues and the Naxal Attack.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered and an investigation into the Naxal Attack is underway.
