Hyderabad: Several IAS officers in Telangana, including Vani Prasad, Vakati Karuna, Ronald Rose, Amrapali, Srujana, Sivashankar, and Harikirana, have faced a setback as the Telangana High Court dismissed their petitions challenging orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The officers had sought relief from the court, requesting not to be relieved from their current posts until the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) hearing on November 4.
During the hearing, the IAS officers’ counsel requested that they not be relieved until the CAT issues a final verdict. However, the High Court bench, led by Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili, remarked that the stay request would only delay resolution of the issue and that the matter should be settled swiftly. The court emphasized that IAS officers, as responsible officials, should not create inconvenience for the public.
The High Court also noted that it is the prerogative of the Central Government to decide on the postings of officers, suggesting that the DoPT should not be asked to reconsider its decision. Additional Solicitor General Narasimha Sharma, representing the Central Government, argued that the courts should not intervene in employee postings, defending the DoPT’s actions as lawful.
The court concluded by dismissing the IAS officers’ petitions.
