Tadepalli: YSRCP spokesperson Syamala has criticized the TDP government, led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, for failing to tackle the alarming rise in crimes against women in Andhra Pradesh. Addressing the media on Tuesday, Syamala questioned the government’s inaction, pointing out that 75 rape cases have been reported in the last four months, yet no significant punishment has been handed down to the accused.
Syamala highlighted that six women were brutally murdered following rape, and over 200 women have been assaulted in the past 120 days. She accused the government of protecting the culprits instead of delivering justice. Furthermore, Syamala expressed outrage over the TDP’s disabling of the Disha app, which had previously provided safety support to more than 31,600 women. She claimed the app was sidelined to downplay the achievements of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Displaying images of Nara Lokesh and Home Minister Anita burning copies of the Disha Act while in opposition, Syamala called for the reinstatement of the app and other women’s safety initiatives.
In addition to criticizing the handling of women’s safety, Syamala pointed to the TDP government’s failure in addressing public health issues, education, and agriculture, demanding immediate action.
