Narasaraopet: Former MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy has voiced serious concerns over the recent diarrhoea outbreak in Gurazala constituency, where contaminated water has reportedly caused seven deaths, primarily affecting economically disadvantaged families.

Speaking to the media in Narasaraopet, Reddy criticized the local administration, highlighting that municipal councillors had repeatedly warned the Municipal Commissioner about water contamination issues, but no action was taken. He demanded an immediate compensation of ₹50 lakh for each affected family, emphasizing that these deaths were preventable.

Reddy condemned the TDP coalition government for focusing on revenue from wine shops, mines, and gambling rather than public health. He accused the administration of neglecting essential services, including access to safe drinking water, which has placed lives in jeopardy.

He cited specific instances, stating that five residents of Lenin Nagar in Piduguralla Municipality and two residents from Anjanapur in Dachepalli town lost their lives to diarrhoea, allegedly due to a switch to an alternate borewell from the one his administration had installed. During his tenure, he secured ₹300 crore in central funding for water safety projects in Gurazala, which he urged the current government to complete.

Reddy pledged to support the affected families and take action if the government fails to address the crisis.
