Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has named K Vijayanand as the new Chief Secretary (CS) of the state. He officially assumed charge on December 31, taking over from outgoing Chief Secretary Neerab Kumar Prasad.
A distinguished 1992-batch IAS officer, Vijayanand previously held the position of Special Chief Secretary for the Energy Department. Expressing his gratitude to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for the appointment, Vijayanand reaffirmed his dedication to advancing the welfare of marginalized communities and strengthening the government’s developmental initiatives.
With a career spanning decades, Vijayanand brings a wealth of administrative expertise to his new role. He has served as the Collector of Srikakulam and Nalgonda districts, where he earned a reputation for effective governance. His nearly 14-year tenure with the Energy Department is particularly notable, as he spearheaded several transformative programs to boost energy efficiency and improve sector performance.
Vijayanand’s term as Chief Secretary is set to continue until November 2025, during which he is expected to play a pivotal role in driving the state’s governance and development agenda.
