Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up to fulfill another major promise from its election manifesto by providing free bus travel to women. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is actively working to implement the scheme by Ugadi, the Telugu New Year, marking a significant step towards women’s empowerment and social welfare.
On Monday, Chandrababu held a crucial meeting with senior officials, including State Transport Minister Ram Prasadoddi, DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, and RTC MD. Discussions focused on the framework and measures required for the free bus travel scheme.
Officials briefed the CM about similar policies already in place in Karnataka, Delhi, and Telangana. Chandrababu instructed them to conduct a detailed study of these states’ implementation strategies and submit a comprehensive report at the earliest.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to accelerate preparations to ensure the scheme’s rollout by Ugadi. This initiative is expected to provide significant relief to women across the state, enabling better access to transportation and reducing their financial burden.
The government’s proactive approach reflects its commitment to delivering on election promises while prioritizing the welfare of women.
