Amaravati: Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, addressing a media conference at the Secretariat, strongly criticized former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing him of spreading falsehoods and failing to support farmers during his tenure. Achchennaidu stated that winning and losing in politics is natural, but leaders must introspect when they face defeat. He expressed frustration over Jagan’s recent comments, questioning his credibility and mental state.
Kinjarapu Atchannaidu refuted Jagan’s claims about the Mirchi Yard in Guntur, stating that the chilli crop is thriving across 11 districts, and prices have not fallen as drastically as Jagan alleged. He highlighted that the current price of Rs. 13,000 per quintal is the highest in the last decade, with only two years seeing prices reach Rs. 20,000. While acknowledging rising cultivation costs, Kinjarapu Atchannaidu accused Jagan of neglecting the agriculture sector during his five-year rule.
The minister emphasized that the current government has cleared Rs. 1,600 crore in dues left by Jagan’s administration and implemented measures like fertilizer buffer stocks and market interventions to support farmers. He also pointed out that Jagan failed to provide drip irrigation or sprinklers even in his native Rayalaseema region. Kinjarapu Atchannaidu concluded by reaffirming the alliance government’s commitment to farmer welfare and development.
