
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy urged industries to contribute towards the state’s economic and technological progress, emphasizing Hyderabad’s leadership in life sciences, pharma, and biotech. He reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving trillion-dollar economic growth and making Hyderabad a China Plus One destination.
Inaugurating Amgen’s new facility alongside IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Revanth Reddy assured investors of long-term support for industrial expansion. Sridhar Babu emphasized Hyderabad’s ambition to become the global capital for life sciences, attracting world-leading companies to enhance its innovation ecosystem. He highlighted Amgen’s contribution, which is expected to generate 600 jobs by year-end and expand to 2,000 in the near future.
Amgen Chairman and CEO Robert A. Broadway confirmed an investment of $200 million (₹1,600 crore) by year-end. He detailed Amgen’s global presence across 100 countries with 28,000 employees, focusing on cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, and rare disease treatments.
The event was attended by US Consul General Jennifer Larson, Amgen India MD Naveen Gullapally, Special Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and Telangana Life Sciences CEO Nagappan, further solidifying Hyderabad’s position as a sustainable biotech hub.
