
Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh has a strong possibility of hosting the National Games in 2029, as Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President and Rajya Sabha MP PT Usha has requested the central government to grant the opportunity to the state.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu revealed this development through a tweet after meeting PT Usha at his residence in Undavalli. During their discussion, they explored the new sports system, athlete training, and strategies to elevate Andhra Pradesh as a sports hub.
PT Usha also sought government support for establishing a Sports Authority of India (SAI) regional center in Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, the meeting focused on plans to set up a National Center of Excellence and develop a Sports City in Amaravati, which could significantly boost the state’s sporting infrastructure.
The CM reiterated his government’s commitment to nurturing young sporting talent, ensuring they receive top-tier facilities and training opportunities to compete at national and international levels. With these ambitious plans, Andhra Pradesh aims to become a key player in India’s sporting landscape.
