Siddaramaiah Cleared in MUDA Land Case: Court Accepts Lokayukta Report

Clean Chit in MUDA Case!

Special Court Clears Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and Wife in MUDA Allotment Case

A Bengaluru special court on Wednesday accepted the closure (B) report submitted by the Karnataka Lokayukta police, effectively giving a clean chit to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his wife, B M Parvathi, in the MUDA land allotment case. The court’s decision brings significant legal relief for the political leader at the center of a high-profile controversy over land allotments by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

The case stems from allegations that MUDA irregularly allotted 14 compensatory residential sites worth crores to Parvathi in Mysuru, in exchange for land allegedly transferred under questionable title. The controversy first gained attention in 2024 after a private complaint surfaced alleging that Siddaramaiah’s influence played a role in the allotments.

In February 2025, Lokayukta police filed a closure report — commonly known as a ‘B report’ — saying there was insufficient evidence to support corruption or criminal charges against Siddaramaiah, his wife, Parvathi’s brother Mallikarjuna Swamy, and former landowner J Devaraj. The special court’s acceptance of this report reaffirms that finding.

During the hearing, the court also rejected a petition by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna, who had challenged the Lokayukta’s conclusions and sought further investigation. However, the judge clarified that while the closure report stands for these four individuals, investigations into other accused persons in the wider MUDA matter will continue, and a final report is expected after completion.

The court further noted that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) — probing alleged money-laundering aspects — retains the right to participate in the case as an aggrieved party to a limited extent.

The verdict represents a pivotal moment in a case that has drawn intense political and public scrutiny, balancing legal procedure with ongoing probes into land allotment practices in Karnataka.
