Delhi Liquor Policy Case: K Kavitha Gets Interim Relief, Court Modifies Bail Conditions
Relief comes as legal battle continues in high-profile excise policy probe
In a significant development in the high-profile Delhi liquor policy case, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha has received interim relief from a Delhi court, offering her temporary respite in an investigation that has drawn national attention.

The court relaxed certain bail conditions imposed earlier, allowing Kavitha to travel abroad after reviewing her request and the circumstances presented. This relief, however, comes with strict safeguards, including a limited travel period and the submission of required guarantees, ensuring her continued cooperation with the ongoing probe.
Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, has been under investigation by central agencies in connection with alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy. The Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation have accused several individuals of being part of a wider conspiracy involving kickbacks and policy manipulation—allegations strongly denied by the BRS leader.
During the hearing, the court noted that Kavitha had complied with previous bail terms and cooperated with investigators, which weighed in her favour while granting the temporary relaxation. At the same time, the judge clarified that the court granted the relief without weakening the gravity of the case, which continues under active judicial scrutiny.
Reacting to the order, BRS leaders described the relief as a “step towards justice,” reiterating their claim that the case is politically motivated. The central agencies, meanwhile, continue to maintain that the evidence collected so far justifies a thorough trial.
