Pune: The 44-year-old famous as ‘Goldman’ was kidnapped from his house and brutally killed with stones on Thursday night. The high- profile business man became popular after he was spotted wearing a shirt made up of 22-carat pure gold which was worth a whopping Rs 1.27crore.
Mr. Phuge’s wife Seema who is an ex-municipal corporator said, “few unidentified men entered home at around 9:30 pm and kidnapped him.”
The officials have recovered the sickle used in the crime and have sent Phuge’s body for an autopsy. The motive behind the killing is not known, but police preliminary suspect it may be linked to some business rivalries and are investigating all angles.
Phuge had floated a chit fund through which he collected money from several investors. He had also indulged in an argument with some people 8 to 10 days prior to the incident, reported Lokmat news.
Pughe self-admittedly used to wear gold ornaments weighing 7 kg in his daily life.
