An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Adityanath Das, was appointed as the Chief Secretary (CS,) of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.)
The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) appointed Mr. Das, as the tenure of Neelam Sawhney, the outgoing CS of A.P., is scheduled to come to a close at the end of December.
He would take over as CS on the 31st of this month.
The YSRCP Government has made minor changes to the administration by appointing Syamala Rao as Irrigation Department secretary, Sri Lakshmi as secretary to Urban Development, K Sunitha as secretary to Social Welfare respectively. The Chief Minister’s Office on the 22nd of December, issued orders to this effect.
Ms. Sawhney was supposed to retire as the State CS, on the 30th of June.
However, she got two extensions as the Chief Secretary, one is June and another in October.
The YSRCP Government granted her the extensions following a request made by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Neelam Sawhney’s tenure as the State CS ends on the 31st of December 2020.
