The Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Government, announced strict supervision and rules for the lockdown in Vijayawada, one of the red zones in A.P.
In the past few days, Vijayawada reported many positive cases for the Novel Coronavirus infection or COVID-19. With the outbreak of the virus 90 % of the areas of the City have been announced as red zone areas.
In addition to the guidelines of the lockdown like social distancing, mandatory wearing of face masks, the red zone areas of Vijayawada would be under strict surveillance. Monitoring would be done with the help of CCTV cameras and drones. Stepping outside the house would be prohibited strictly and if anyone violates the norms, he/she would be taken to the State run quarantine centres.
C.H. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, the Commissioner of Police of Vijayawada assured all the essential items like rations and medicines would be delivered to the door steps of the residents, so they need not to go outside. The officials will collect a list on a daily basis from the residents and would supply the same to their homes.
Additional police personnel are deployed to control the situation in the containment zones of Vijayawada. Violation of these guidelines would be considered as an offence and a case would be registered under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)
In Vijayawada eight zones were identified as red zones due to the high number of positive cases of COVID-19 infection. The identified areas are Krishna Lanka, Karmika Nagar, Bhavanipuram, Kudus Nagar, A.S. Nagar, Kadapa, Kakinada and Machilipatnam.
