From the 2nd of November, government schools in Andhra Pradesh started classes.
The schools re opened after 8 months due to the nationwide lockdown and the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
On the 24th of March, the Central Government announced a nationwide lockdown.
The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government allowed classes 9th and 10th to resume classes from Monday.
Students would be allowed after thermal screening, sanitization and with face masks.
Teachers would create awareness about the COVID-19 infection during prayer/assembly time among students.
In addition, seating arrangements would be according to the social distancing protocol of the COVID-19.
The decision to re open government schools was taken after the single day cases of Andhra Pradesh reduced to 4,000 from 10,000 and the guidelines of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA.)
Under the 5th Unlock of India, the MHA issued guidelines and permits the re opening of schools/colleges/educational institutes.
In regard to this, the school authorities would conduct half day classes in three phases.
Nilam Sawhney, the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh and Adimulapu Suresh, the Education Minister of Andhra Pradesh directed officials to take all necessary precautions against the spread of the coronavirus.
In addition, from the 23rd of November, the State Government is likely to resume classes for class 6th, 7th and 8th. Students of primary section which include students of class 1 to 5 would begin their classes from the 14th of December.
While government schools are planning to resume completely by December 2020, private schools are still conducting online classes and did not announce about re opening.
