The Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh Mr. K.V. Rajendranath Reddy announced the arrest two Maoists, involved in serious crimes like murders, attempted murders and other offences.
On the 6th of May, Friday, the DGP, Mr. K.V. Rajendranath also announced the surrender of five other disillusioned Maoists. According to sources, the DGP said that Alluri Sitarama Raju district police arrested the most wanted Maoists Korra Nageswara Rao, who carries Rs. 4 lakh reward on his head and Seendri Jagan who carries Rs. 1 lakh reward on him. Furthermore, Korra Nageswara Rao, who ran by several aliases and was active in the Maoists for two decades, was involved in over 100 offences, including two double murders and a murder. He twice escaped in exchange of fire incidents with police in 2020 and 2021.
Getting into details, the DGP said of the five who surrendered, three were party members who carried a reward of Rs. 1 lakh each of their heads. The other two were militia commanders.
The arrested were identified as Korra Nageswara Rao alias Nagesh, alias English Master, Area Committee Member (ACM) of Pedabayalu-Korukonda area committee; and Seendri Jagan, party member of Galikonda Area Committee.
Other surrendered extremists included Kilo Raju alias Pedapadu Raju, party member Seendri Mohan alias Jambri, of Galikonda Area Committee, Vanthala Bhaskar alias Jattu, party members of Galikonda Area Committee, Gemmili Kesu alias Pamurai Kesu and Vanthala Krishna, both militia members of the same committee.
The announcement of the Maoist arrest was made during a police press conference held in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.
