Andhra Pradesh conducts its re polls in the 5 constituencies of Prakasam, Guntur and Nellore district, on the 6th of May.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) after reviewing the reports of the Returning Officers of the respective constituencies, announced re elections in some of the constituencies of Andhra Pradesh (AP.)
The polling began at 7:00 A.M., and will continue till 6:00 P.M., in the evening.
Approximately 5,064 voters are eligible to cast votes in the respective centres in all the 3 districts. The repolling in 5 constituencies can be a good chance for the candidates contesting the AP Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Below are the details of the districts, constituencies and polling booth numbers :
Prakasam district
Constituency – Yerragondapalem
Polling Booth – 247
Nellore district
Constituencies –Sullurupeta and Kovvur
Polling Booth – 197 and 247 respectively
Guntur district
Constituencies – Narasaraopet and Guntur West
Polling Booth – 94 and 244 respectively.
Voter turnout in till 1:00 P.M. was:
Kovvur : 44.74 %
Sullurpet : 70.61 %
Based on the orders of the Election Commission (EC) of Andhra Pradesh, the district administration arranged drinking water, tents, medical camps and other facilities for the voters.
Andhra Pradesh conducted its Assembly and Lok Sabha elections for 175 and 25 seats respectively, on the 11th of April. However, due to cases of violence and malfunction of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs,) the polling in a few constituencies were disqualified.
The major parties which contested the AP Assembly and Lok Sabha elections are the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the and the JanaSena Party.
The results of the AP Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
