The Vijayawada police are keeping a strict eye on people who are not following the protocols of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. 

According to sources, the security checks regarding the COVID-19 protocols are happening on the main junctions in the City.

The police also asked people to wear face masks.

The decision to keep vigilance was taken due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Krishna district and other districts of Vijayawada.

In addition, various government departments are creating awareness among the people regarding COVID-19 pandemic.

In regard to this, the City police are stopping the vehicles for not wearing masks by drivers and collecting heavy penalties from violators.

The Vijayawada police also booked 111 cases and collected a penalty of Rs. 10,050.

B. Srinivasulu, the Commissioner of Police (CP,) appealed to people to wear masks in public places and stay safe.

Mohammed Imtiaz, the District Collector of Krishna also helped and showed his involvement by spreading awareness about the COVID-19 guidelines.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh reported 8,42,967 cases of COVID-19 in the State.

Of the total positive cases, 21,403 are active cases, 8,14,773 were recovered/discharged cases and 6,791 are deceased cases.
