On the 20th of May, Andhra Pradesh reported 9,393 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
This is the 12th day when the State reported nearly 10,000 new cases.
Districts like Kurnool, Guntur, East Godavari and Chittoor reported the highest number of cases.
The Andhra Pradesh Health Department conducted as many as 55,551 sample tests, out of which, 9,393 samples tested positive.
This is higher than any other state, barring Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. As a result, Andhra Pradesh is on third place in the list of highest number of COVID-19 cases in Indian states.
The top two are Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
With the new cases, the total reached 3,25,39 cases till date.
The single day spike in Andhra Pradesh is even more than any other state except Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, the number of deceased with 95 new cases reached a total of 3,001 in the past 24 hours.
With these updates, Andhra Pradesh has a total of 87,177 active cases, 2,35,218 recovered/discharged cases and 758 deceased.
The top four districts of Andhra Pradesh with the highest number of the Novel Coronavirus cases are East Godavari 45,356, Kurnool 36,381, Anantapur 32,603 and Guntur 28,808.
In addition, the mortality rate of COVID-19 in Andhra Pradesh is 0.90%, the average growth rate of the infection is now 3.5% from the previous 3.60 % and the recovery rate now is reduced to 72.30 %.
Till the 19th of August, Andhra Pradesh conducted a total of 30,74,847 tests for the Novel Coronavirus.
The total population of the State as per 2019 data is 5,22,21,000.
