After the destruction of the Anna canteen in Kuppam of Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, chaos escalated with the involvement of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders protesting.
On the night of the 29th of August, Monday, at 11:00 P.m., unknown people allegedly attacked and destroyed the arrangements and Flexi set up at the bus stand, Kuppam. They also damaged Anna’s Canteen set up in the region, amid the arrival of Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the TDP.
After receiving the information of the attacks and Anna canteens damage, the TDP workers and leaders reached the spot and protested. Mr. Nara Lokesh, the General Secretary of the TDP, criticised the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Government for the attack. Mr. Nara Lokesh further condemned the late-night attack and said, during the regime of the YSRCP Government, over 200 Anna Canteens were cancelled. Condemning the recent attack on the food place, Mr. Nara Lokesh, on behalf of the TDP staff and members, demand strict action against the culprits.
Moreover, this is not the first time people destructed Anna Canteens in the region. In the last week, when Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the TDP was scheduled to visit Kuppam, a group of people attacked Anna canteens and destroyed them.
It is to be noted, the TDP led Andhra Pradesh Government launched Anna Canteens in 2018, across the State providing meals to people for just Rs. 5. However, in 2019, when the YSRCP Government came into the power in Andhra Pradesh, the canteens were shut down in major regions of the State.
