In Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP,) a total of 65 trains were cancelled due to ‘Cyclone Jawad.’
On the 3rd of December, Friday, Mr. A.K. Tripathi, senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair Division of East Coast Railway, informed about the cancelled trains, scheduled for the 3rd and the 4th of December. In addition, the District Collector of Visakhapatnam also announced schools and colleges in Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam to be closed on the 4th of December, Saturday.
Due to the low depression formed atin the Bay of Bengal, regions of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha have been alerted for Cyclone Jawad. With wind speedsspeed of 90-100 kmph, the cyclone is expected to enter the coastal region of the states on the 4th of December, resulting in heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, ro control the situation and conduct immediate relief measures, the Central Government deployed 45 National Defence Rescue Force (NDRF) in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, each.
