Tollywood stars, Rajasekhar, and his wife, Jeevitha, on the 1st of April, joined the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh.
The couple met Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the YSRCP, at his residence in Lotus Pond, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad and expressed their wish to join the Party. Jagan Mohan Reddy welcomed the couple and felicitated them with a YSRCP shawl.
Speaking about the reason to join the YSRCP, Mr. Rajasekhar and Jeevitha said, they don’t have any issues with any other political party and it is their wish to join the YSRCP.
The couple felt happy after joining the YSRCP and were confident about winning the upcoming Assembly and the Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Rajasekhar praised Jagan Mohan Reddy and said, he believes Jagan will follow the footsteps of his father, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and will do good deeds.
The couple also appealed to the people of Andhra Pradesh not to fall for the gifts given to them by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) as a part of the Pasupu Kumkuma programme. Rajasekhar and Jeevitha claimed, the scheme is a campaign stunt ahead of the AP Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Andhra Pradesh will contest a total of 175 seats and 25 seats in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections respectively. The elections in the State are scheduled on the 11th of April.
The major parties contesting the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) the JanaSena Party and the TDP.
The results of the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be declared on the 23rd of May 2019.
