Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,)  on the 6th of May, conducted a review meeting and discussed the Novel Coronavirus situation in the State.

During the review meeting, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the concerned authorities to ensure about the quarantine facilities for the citizens travelling from different states.

According to sources, migrant workers and citizens of Andhra Pradesh were returning back to the State amid the lockdown 3.0.   Special flights and the Shramik Express trains approved by the State and the Central Government allowed these migrants and citizens to return to their native villages amid the lockdown.

As many as 1,000 migrant  workers from Thane, Maharashtra and other states came to Andhra  Pradesh’s Guntakal area.   The authorities were asked to set up screening centres for these workers and conduct COVID-19 tests for them.  The officials were also asked to focus on the quarantine facilities and food for the migrant workers travelling to Andhra Pradesh.

In addition, the workers who are stranded in Andhra Pradesh should also be taken care of properly with adequate food and other facilities for their survival.

Mr. Reddy ordered the concerned authorities to be generous with the migrant workers and observe closely those coming from Thane, as the City recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases.

In addition, the migrant workers who are travelling from Andhra Pradesh to their native places, were provided food, water bottles and an amount of Rs. 500 before leaving.

A.P., Police have been deployed to ensure the maintenance of the social distancing and lockdown guidelines in the State strictly.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh reported a total of 1,777 cases of the Novel Coronavirus with 36 fatalities till the 6th of May.
