Vijayawada:  Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy released Rs. 7,98 crores towards the second tranche of YSR Law Nestham on Monday. A total of  2,807 junior advocates benefited with the scheme. Each beneficiary got Rs.30,000 for a period of July to December 2023.

Jagan virtually pressed the button and credited the funds directly into the accounts of the advocates. He recalled that he promised the advocates during his Padayatra and fulfilled it. Under the programme, the Government would pay a total stipend of Rs. 1,8 lakh to each junior advocate  in a period of three years.

The Chief Minister said that instead of paying the stipend of Rs. 5000 every month, the Government has decided to pay the amount every six months as it would provide better utility for advocates and better monitoring.

So far, the Government has extended Rs. 49.51crore as financial assistance to 6069 advocates after launching the scheme, he said, asking the junior advocates to extend their support to the poor when they settle down in the profession.

Several junior advocates across the State have also interacted with the Chief Minister and thanked him for extending financial support.

Chief Secretary Dr KS Jawahar Reddy, Law Secretary G. Satya Prabhakara Rao, senior officials of the Law department and senior advocates were among those present.
