The Andhra Pradesh Government, on the 1st of May, set up a control room in order to extend help to the stranded migrant labourers in other states of India.
The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) launched a website and toll free numbers so the migrant labourers in different states could contact them for any kind of help. They can contact the officials of Andhra Pradesh Government by calling on 0866-2424680 and 1902 with details to get help to go to their places.
Due to the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 and lockdown, many migrant labourers are stuck away from their native villages.
M.T. Krishna Babu, the Principal Secretary of Transport, Roads and Buildings in A.P., said people in need, could also mail them at [email protected].
While addressing the media, Mr. Krishna Babu said the State Government announced relaxation for agriculture, aqua and allied sectors, allowing them to work amid lockdown. Nearly 1,655 industries located in the green zone areas of A.P., could start functioning and migrant labourers could also work, following the guidelines.
The lockdown is proposed to end on the 3rd of May in India. However, the red zones area would be under lockdown guidelines to contain the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh recorded a total of 1,463 cases with new 60 cases of COVID-19, on the 1st of May.
