Dr BR Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) says the Andhra Pradesh government owes ₹601.40 crore for educational and administrative services provided in the State after bifurcation.
BRAOU provided classes, study centre services, study materials, library services and examinations for students in Andhra Pradesh. It also maintained 92 study centres and paid salaries and pensions to staff there for 10 years.
Under the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, the university was expected to serve both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for 10 years, until 2024. However, the two States did not reach an agreement on extending the services or dividing the university.
BRAOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani said the university had sent several reminders but was yet to receive its pending dues. He said BRAOU would again approach the State government over the issue.
