Amaravati: AP Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita has announced a comprehensive four-point agenda focused on eradicating ganja, protecting women, enhancing police welfare, and filling vacancies in the police department. Speaking to the media after a meeting with the DGP and other senior officials, she emphasized the government’s commitment to these priorities.
Minister Anita criticized the previous Vaikapa government for misusing the police system and failing to fill even a single constable position. She highlighted the neglect in completing the police academy despite central funding, with some stations, like one in Visakhapatnam, operating under inadequate conditions. Complaints about non-functional escort vehicles and lack of funds for stationary expenses dating back to 2014 were also noted.
The minister pointed out the significant rise in marijuana trafficking, placing the state third in the national crime record. A subcommittee has been formed to address this issue, with plans for awareness programs and community participation to curb the problem.
She also addressed the improper deployment of untrained women police officers in secretariats, questioning their ability to perform police duties effectively. The government is considering measures to properly utilize these officers.
Minister Anita assured that the administration is not seeking revenge but is focused on the state’s development as guided by their leader, Chandrababu Naidu. Legal action will be taken against officials who violated rules under the previous government.
