Sai Pratap, a former Union Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and a former member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) may join the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) ahead of the AP Lok Sabha elections.
Sai Pratap, a six time MP of the Rajampet constituency, joined the TDP in 2016. Sai Pratap is disappointed with the TDP as the Party did not give a ticket to him to contest the upcoming Assembly elections and Lok Sabha elections, in Andhra Pradesh.
Sai Pratap expected his name to be nominated as the MP candidate who will contest the AP Lok Sabha elections from the Rajampet constituency. However, the TDP fielded Sathya Prabha, a Member of the Legislative Assembly of the TDP.
Sai Pratap then decided to resign from the Party, following which, it is speculated, he may join the YSRCP and get a ticket to contest from the Rajampet constituency.
However, an official announcement regarding the same is yet to be made.
Andhra Pradesh will contest a total of 175 seats and 25 seats in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections respectively. The elections in the State are scheduled on the 11th of April.
The major parties contesting the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are the YSRCP, the JanaSena Party and the TDP.
The results of the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be declared on the 23rd of May 2019.
