The Andhra Pradesh Municipal elections concluded at 5:00 P.M., on the 10th of March.
The polling started around 7:00 A.M., and concluded in the evening at 7,915 polling centres. The State Election Commission (SEC) appointed 48,723 officials at all centres for the smooth and peaceful conduct of elections.
Close to 78,71,272 voters were eligible voters to cast their votes for 7,552 candidates in the fray for 12 municipal corporations.
The cities of Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, West Godavari, East Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Chittor, YSR Kadapa, Kurnool, Anantapur went for polls on the same day.
The elections were held in 12 municipal corporations, including Vizianagaram, Greater Visakhapatnam, Eluru, Vijayawada, Machilipatnam, Guntur, Ongole, Chittoor, Tirupati, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur. However, Eluru would not conduct municipal polls on the 10th of March. Recently on the 8th of March, the Supreme Court put a hold on Eluru Municipal elections due to fault in preparation.
Major parties like the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the JanaSena Party contested for the elections.
The results of the Municipal elections would be announced on the 14th of March.
