The Badvel Assembly by election in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, started at 7:00 A.M., today, the 30th of October.

The Badvel Assembly constituency MLA seat fell vacant after the demise of Dr. Venkata Subbaiah, the former MLA of the constituency. Besides the BJP and the YSRCP, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is also eying to win the Badvel MLA seat.

A total of 15 candidates are in the fray to contest the election and win the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) seat. Of the 15 candidates, 13 are male candidates, whereas 2 are female candidates including the MLA candidate of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)

Dr. Sudha is the MLA candidate of the YSRCP for the Badvel Assembly constituency. This time, the tough fight for the seat is between, the YSRCP and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

The State Election Commission (SEC) made all the necessary arrangements for the by poll at 281 polling centres. A total of 271 videographers were hired ro record the entire polling process for webcasting. The SEC is monitoring the polling arrangements and deployed 1,348 staff for the election duties.

The staff include general observer, police observer and two expenditure observers to monitor the entire election process.

While Ms. Sudha, the wife of late Dr. Venkata Subbaiah is contesting as the YSRCP MLA candidate, Mr. Punthala Suresh is the BJP candidate for the Assembly by election. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) nominated Dr. Obulapuram Rajasekhar as their MLA candidate.

The polling would continue till 7:00 P.M., today and the results of the election would be announced on the 2nd of November.
