After the recent raid by the Enforcement Directorate (ED,) at Byju’s, the ed tech company received another drawback, as the MP District Consumer Court issued a notice.
Recently, the Consumer Court of Madhya Pradesh issued a notice to Byju’s and its ambassador Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, ordering them to return the money of students and pay compensation. The court issued an order after a student, Priyanka Dikshit, filed a complaint against the ed tech company, alleging them of taking money but not providing coaching. In 2021, Piryanka Dikshit enrolled with the Byju’s and paid an amount of Rs. 1.18 lakhs, for Indian Administrative Service (IAS) preparation exams. She alleged that after enrollment, the ed tech company did not provide her the coaching and when she asked for a refund the company told her they would give, but never did.
After several requests for refund, IAS Aspirant Priyanka Dikshit took legal help and filed a case with the Consumer Court. Now, the court has asked Shah Rukh Khan and Byju’s to pay the fees along with a compensation.
