Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) on the 27th of April, criticised Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.)
Mr. Naidu took to Twitter and said, What can I say about a man who keeps repeating #Coronavirus is just a fever? It is because of his sheer carelessness that AP now tops the charts in South India. Truly appalled at his foolish comments about making #Covid-19 an integral part of everybody’s lives. God save AP!”
The tweet came after Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy addressed the citizens of the State and spoke about the measures taken to control the spread of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
During a press meet Mr. Reddy said, “Corona could afflict some Yellaiah or Pullaiah, or even me. It’s nothing but fever. It comes and goes. Take medicines when it comes and some care.” He further added, “Despite the numerous measures taken, the reality is that we can’t really contain the virus. Even if one person is left out somewhere, and if he sneezes or cough(s)…the virus spreads. It is a never ending process. No way the virus gets fully eliminated.”
Comparing the Coronavirus to Swine flu, Mr. Jagan Mohan said, “Swine flu is also a contagious disease. It just passes on. Or even chickenpox. Corona is also similar. By taking medicines and certain precautions, it gets cured.”
Speaking about affected areas, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, so far 83% of Andhra Pradesh which is 559 mandals are free from COVID- 19.
However, Chandrababu Naidu said the irresponsibility and casual approach of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government is the reason for increase in COVID-19 infection in A.P.
Andhra Pradesh reported a total of 1,259 cases of the virus including 82 fresh cases in the last 24 hours till date, the 28th of April.
