Eluru: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena conducted a thorough inspection of the Election Control Room in Eluru district on Friday, ahead of the upcoming general elections. Meena’s visit began with a tour of the media control room established at the Collectorate. During this visit, he inquired about the process of documenting negative news regarding election arrangements and the adherence to the election code of conduct in the media, seeking solutions to any issues that arose.

District Collector Prasanna Venkatesh provided relevant details, explaining that negative news and complaints in the media would be promptly relayed from the control room to the district election officer and relevant returning officers for necessary action. Meena also questioned officials and staff about their strategies for addressing issues raised on social media platforms.

DD Rammohan from the Department of Horticulture, responsible for monitoring social media, assured Meena of diligent examination of political announcements and related content on platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Twitter, with reports promptly forwarded to the relevant returning officers.

Furthermore, Meena inspected the C whistle monitoring section and reviewed the operations of static surveillance teams and flying surveillance teams equipped with GPS-enabled vehicles for field-level observations. He examined the management of the control room, where the movements of surveillance teams are tracked.

Later, Meena visited the department responsible for submitting daily reports to the Election Commission, emphasizing the importance of timely submission. Meena was accompanied by District Collector V. Prasanna Venkatesh, District Superintendent of Police D. Mary Prashanthi, and District Joint Collector B. Lavanya Veni.
