
Amaravati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to prioritize and fast-track the completion of ongoing railway projects across Andhra Pradesh. In a high-level review meeting at the State Secretariat with railway and state officials, Mr. Naidu emphasized the need to accelerate project timelines and address land acquisition delays.
Citing a recent assurance from the Railway Minister to invest Rs 72,000 crore in state railway infrastructure, the Chief Minister urged officials to maximize these resources and ensure swift project execution. The meeting focused on the status of current projects, land acquisition challenges, and the economic impact of these developments on the state.
Key Project Directives
- Formation of Task Force: Mr. Naidu announced the formation of a dedicated task force comprising officials from the Railways, Revenue, and Roads & Buildings (R&B) departments. This team will be responsible for addressing land acquisition hurdles and streamlining project timelines.
- Kotipalli-Narsapur Railway Line: The Chief Minister stressed that the Kotipalli-Narsapur line be completed within four months, urging officials to resolve any lingering issues promptly.
- Nadikudi-Srikalahasti Line: Mr. Naidu approved an immediate release of Rs 20 crore for acquiring 11 acres, essential for the Nadikudi-Srikalahasti railway line’s advancement. The Sattupalli-Kovvur line has also been prioritized, with instructions to finalize land acquisition swiftly.
- Kadapa-Bengaluru Line: Noting recent alignment changes, the Chief Minister recommended a detailed review of the Kadapa-Bengaluru railway line before moving forward.
Four-Year Timeline for Completion
Setting a clear timeline, Mr. Naidu urged officials to complete all ongoing railway projects within three years, while doubling works should conclude in four years. He stressed that an integrated approach involving road, rail, and air networks will drive economic growth and connectivity across the state.
The meeting, attended by Minister BC Janardhan Reddy and senior officials, concluded with the Chief Minister affirming his commitment to resolving all obstacles in the way of these projects, signaling a push towards comprehensive infrastructure development.
