COVID-19 Update – AP Records 43 Fresh Cases, Total Tally At 1,887

Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) is recording the lowest tally of daily cases with just 43 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

The numbers were decreasing day by day.  On the 7th of May, 54 cases were detected, on the 6th of May, 56 cases were registered, on the 5th of May, single day cases stood at 60 and on the 4th of May, it recorded 67 cases.

On the 9th of May, the State Government reported a steady decline in the number of positive cases over the past one week,

With these updates, the State has 1,887 positive cases, 1004 active cases, 842 recovered/ discharged and 41 deaths till the 9th of May.

The State Nodal Officer has reported that of the 8,388 samples tested on the 8th of May, only 43 samples were COVID-19 positive.

The state’s top COVID-19 hotspot of Kurnool district continued to register very low positive cases, followed by Guntur, Visakhapatnam, Anantapur and Chittoor.  However, Krishna district, another hotspot for the spread of the virus, reported the highest daily tally, 16 cases on the 9th of May. 

Though daily cases registered reduced in Kurnool, it still has the highest number of Coronavirus cases with 553, followed by Guntur and Krishna districts with 376 and 338 cases respectively. 

On an average, the state tests around 7,500 samples per day and till date conducted as many as 1,65,069 tests for the Novel Coronavirus.

The State’s positivity rate stands at 1.17 %, while the COVID-19 mortality rate is 2.28 per cent.

Meanwhile, to maintain the reduction in the COVID-19 cases, the State Government is following strict guidelines for the lockdown and maintained social distancing in A.P.

Heavy fine and police forces have been imposed to ensure the citizens follow all the rules of the lockdown and social distancing.

The nation wide lockdown which started on the 24th of March would continue till the 17th of May.
